1969年11月30日，无产阶级革命家陶铸逝世，享年61岁。陶铸是湖南祁阳人，1926年加入中国共产党。参加了南昌起义、广州起义。新中国成立后历任中共中央华南分局书记兼华南军区第二政委、广东省省长、广东省委第一书记，中共中央中南局第一书记兼广州军区政委，国务院副总理，中共中央书记处常务书记，中央宣传部部长，中共八届中央政治局常委。 本剧浓缩了陶铸同志短暂而闪亮的一生，再现了陶铸同志浓厚的亲情、乡情，严于律已、心系人民群众的高尚风格，以及光辉的共产党人形象。。The film is based loosely around events in December 1995 that culminated in the murders of three drug dealers in Rettendon, Essex, UK. On 6th December Patrick Tate, Craig Rolfe and Tony Tucker, three drug dealers well known to the police, were lured to Workhouse Lane, Rettendon.
