一曲断肠《钗头凤》，令多少有情人儿落尽相思泪。故事发生在南宋时期，动荡的时代，有志青年陆游（计镇华 饰）忧国忧民，憎恶叹息国家大政把持在秦桧之流手中。他听从父母安排在家中读书，并与美丽而多才的表妹唐琬（王馥荔 饰）结为夫妇。正所谓郎才女貌，妇唱夫随，举案齐眉，琴瑟合璧。虽是偏安不稳的时局，却未曾不是一段才子佳人的绝美故事。怎奈“东风恶，欢情薄”，才华横溢的唐琬并不为婆婆所喜，之后更因助捐金钗一事见弃于姑。在封建礼教的束缚下，陆游最终和唐琬分离。
